The role
Join our growing team as a Forester, responsible for hands-on project delivery, conducting site surveys, mapping, document preparation, and operational supervision. You’ll work in line with our Woodland Charter, the blueprint that shapes how we plan, deliver, and make decisions across all our projects.
Our Forester Pathway
We are looking for Foresters at all experience levels to join our team. Below we have outlined what a forestry career looks like at TreeStory; from building your foundations to leading landscape-scale projects.
- Assistant Forester – Less than two years post-qualification; You build your professional foundations and support delivery while learning on the job.
- Forester – More than two years post-qualification; You take on defined responsibilities, progress toward chartership, and complete tasks with confidence.
- Forestry Consultant – Chartered Forester; You own your projects, manage your workload with support from a senior manager, and deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Senior Project and Forestry Consultant – Minimum two years post-chartership; You lead the delivery of projects and portfolios and support the development of others.
Key responsibilities
- Work across Scotland’s landscapes, from new woodland creation to mature forests, ensuring projects meet high standards.
- Carry out site surveys, mapping, and planning to bring regenerative forestry projects to life.
- Turn plans into action by supervising operations and working directly with contractors and clients.
- Use tools such as Asana, QGIS, and Microsoft Office to keep projects on track.
- Collaborate with foresters, ecologists, and consultants to share knowledge and solve challenges.
- Senior candidates will lead project portfolios, mentor colleagues, and build strong client relationships.

You should have
Experience depending on level:
- Assistant Forester: up to two years post-qualification; working toward ICF chartership.
- Forester: more than two years post-qualification; working toward ICF chartership.
- Forestry Consultant: ICF chartered; able to manage your own workload with senior support.
- Senior Project and Forestry Consultant: at least two years post-chartership; responsible for delivery of projects and portfolios.
