Role overview

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Woodland Manager to join our team and help shape the future of woodland and natural environment management. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to meaningful forestry projects, working closely with woodland owners, land managers, and stakeholders to deliver sustainable woodland management solutions. Our portfolio of clients is impressive, and we seek an individual who can meet the required exacting standards of delivery, performance and communications.

Key responsibilities

The Woodland Manager will be involved with:

  • Woodland and habitat creation projects
  • Contract management
  • Woodland management plans and operational planning
  • Timber harvesting and marketing
  • Supporting tree safety survey assessment and subsequent management
  • Mensuration via the measurement and assessment of trees and timber
  • Wildlife management and recording
  • Preparing and submitting a range of grant funding applications
  • Preparing and submitting felling licence applications

 

Candidate requirements

Essential qualifications and experience

Applicants should demonstrate:

  • A degree in Forestry or a related discipline (or be currently working towards one)
  • A genuine passion for forestry, woodlands, and the environment
  • Practical experience in woodland management or related work
  • Good knowledge of woodland management principles and industry best practice
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • The ability to work independently, collaboratively as part of a team, and be self-motivated
  • A full UK driving licence
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, Microsoft Copilot, AI search tools, and digital mapping would be an advantage

Additional information

  • Fixed-term appointment for an initial period of 18 months
  • Potential for extension beyond the initial term
  • Part-time working arrangements will be considered
