NRW graduate programme accredited by the Institute of Chartered Foresters

Natural Resources Wales (NRW) has achieved accreditation from the Institute of Chartered Foresters (ICF) for its Forestry and Land Management Graduate Programme, marking an important milestone in the development of the next generation of forestry professionals.

The accreditation recognises the quality of NRW’s structured graduate development programme – successful completion offers graduates two additional Professional Membership Entry (PME) qualifying points, helping to support progression towards Chartered status.

The accreditation reflects NRW’s continuing commitment to professional development, practical learning, and the high standards expected of forestry professionals. It also enhances opportunities for graduates to gain the skills, experience, and professional competence needed to build successful careers within the sector.

Sam Brown FICFor, Forest Operations Team Leader at Natural Resources Wales, said:

“We are delighted to have our graduate scheme accredited by the ICF as this gives NRW and our graduates confidence that the scheme upholds the values and professional standards of both organisations. With this collaboration, we are excited to offer graduates a wide range of opportunities to benefit their ongoing development.

“We look forward to working jointly with the ICF as our first cohort of graduates start their two-year journey towards a career in the forest industry.”

The accreditation demonstrates NRW’s commitment to investing in future talent and supporting professional standards across the forestry sector. Through a combination of practical experience, structured learning, and professional mentoring, graduates will be well placed to contribute to the sustainable management of Wales’ forests and woodlands while progressing towards Chartered status with the Institute.
